Truth

A great line from the movie “A Few Good Men” is “Truth, you can’t handle the truth”. I ask, is that true of us? Do we actually handle the truth appropriately?

The truth is…

1. We have all sinned

2. We must repent of our sin (that means stop doing the sin and change our life style)

3. We must ask the Lord to direct our lives

4. We must honestly pursue the Lord’s guidance and strive for holiness (if we trip up, we must confess the error and allow the Lord to strengthen us)

5. We must allow the truth to set us free

6. We are dead to sin and should no longer live there in

So, truth…do we handle it correctly? The old adage that sin is sin no matter who it’s in and the fact that in God’s eyes there is no difference in levels of sin. I believe in attempting to live in truth, I must strive for the righteousness of God. I must work out my salvation with fear and trembling. This fear and trembling being under the mind set that God is no respecter of persons and I am the vilest of sinners in His eyes…but I am saved by grace, so it is no longer I who lives but Christ living in me. Therefore, it is incumbent of me to live a life as close to Christ likeness as I can, constantly on guard against the attacks of the enemy of my soul. I cannot let down my guard but stand firm and having stood, stand strong in the armor of God.

I have seen some posts about legalism, the New Testament replacing the Old Testament, and how the Bible doesn’t apply in today’s society.

My truth…

2 Timothy 3:16 – this verse tells me the word of God was breathed into the authors by God himself and that all of it is applicable through all of time. We cannot simply pick and choose to suit of fancy.

Romans 3:23 – we all have sinned and fell short of God’s plan for our lives.

Romans 6:23 – god’s gift for us is salvation through the sacrifice of His son.

John 3:16-17 – God loves us enough to send His Son to die for us and His Son did not come to condemn us but to redeem us.

Romans 10:9 – if we claim Jesus as our Lord having asked for forgiveness we will be saved.

1 John 1:9 – God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from unrighteousness.

Romans 6:1-4 – having been forgiven, we should no longer live in sin.

Romans 12:1-2 – we should be…being transformed continuously into who God wants us to be.

Hebrews 12:1-4 – we should cast off our sinful man and strive for a correct lifestyle understanding that Christ is our example in suffering.

Truth – we should live lives in pursuit of the righteousness of God.

Be blessed.
