Reward

Here are some scriptures that mention our reward…

“But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.” Matthew‬ ‭5:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians‬ ‭3:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward.” Hebrews‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

On earth rewards are given to us for achieving something (sitting a record), going above and beyond in performance, putting others first at our own peril (Silver Star in the military), and winning a competition. All of these give due to those who have worked to be the best in their role at a given moment. This display then shows others how we should work and behave.

As the verses above mention, the Christian walk also has rewards. God rewards our walk here on earth as well as in heaven. Our earthly rewards we do not always see or notice as many times they are part of life. He may reward a faithful follower with a long life filled with joy and memories of how He walked with them along their journey. God might reward a person’s efforts with a comfortable lifestyle. Close friends of like faith are a reward from God. Our ultimate reward however will be in heaven. To be with God for the rest of eternity, in true fellowship and unity of spirit. To stand before His throne in that great congregation and sing praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That will be awesome for that is what we were created for…to be close to Him and fellowship with Him.

What a fantastic thought! To be in His presence in complete and glorious purity, enjoying all that He has to give. I get goosebumps just thinking about that, the excitement is overwhelming. So make sure that you are ready so we can all stand together one day and enjoy His presence.
