Sitting at home yesterday evening I could hear the wind blowing against our house. As gusts would hit, the wind chimes were going to town and the roar of the wind against the windows and such was very apparent. Sitting at work this morning I can hear it again and hear the affects the gusts have on the roof of the building. Like any other flat top building there is squeaking and popping from the strong gusts.

It is recorded in Acts 2:2 that a sound like a mighty wind came from heaven as the Spirit was poured out in the upper room.

“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I question, what would we do if we were to experience this type of outpouring on us today? Would we stand up and preach the word as Peter did? Would we walk in the Spirit praying for those we encounter and share the Good News with passion? The people in those days were being killed for such actions and beliefs, yet they continued.

The scary thing is that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in us and we are called to be the light to the world.

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” Romans‬ ‭8:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Matthew‬ ‭5:14‬ ‭NLT

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew‬ ‭28:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Oh great and mighty God, forgive us for our shortcomings in sharing the Good News planned and orchestrated by you from the time of the first sin. Strengthen our minds and hearts to your work and send laborers into the harvest, for the fields are ripe and ready. May we be people about your business as Christ told his parents, since the day is long spent and time is running short. Break our hearts for what breaks yours and give us compassion and humbleness as we labor for you. In Jesus name, amen.

Be blessed.
