This is the brass tacks of who you are. You cannot hide from your character. As sin will find you out, your character will broadcast who you are. There is a broad gamut of virtues or attitudes that make up a person’s character.
A church based boys group that I was in growing up had an emblem. The eight blue points of this emblem is the code upon which we were to live our lives. They are as follows:
Alert – mentally, physically, and spiritually alert.
Clean – clean in body, mind, and speech.
Honest – do not lie, cheat, or steal.
Courageous – brave in spite of danger, threat, or criticism.
Loyal – faithful to church, family, outpost, and friends.
Courteous – polite, kind, and thoughtful.
Obedient – obeys parents, teachers, and all those in authority.
Spiritual – pray, read the Bible, and witness.
These foundational points in my life have assisted in molding me into the man that I am. I am not perfect by any means and have my share of battles. But I can fall back on these things learned from the age of eight forward. I thank God that I had the opportunity to learn spiritual based information like this from a young age.
All of these flow into the type of life and legacy that I hope to leave behind, once my shadow has been cast and others look at my life. I pray that I might be a man of integrity.
Integrity – you act the same way when you are alone as you do when your amongst others. You stop for that stop sign out in the country even though you can see that no cars are anywhere to be seen. You return the change given to you in error from a purchase or you question the fact that you think you were under charged. You follow through on your promises. You live a life with the understanding that in everything you do, you do it as unto the Lord.
Be blessed.
