New puppies do not like to be alone. While working our new puppy through potty training he is put in his kennel in our kitchen when we are busy and can’t keep an eye on him. He sure isn’t happy while that is going on and he barks and whines letting us know he is still there. Then when we return he is all excited with wagging tail and happiness about being with us.
“As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.” Psalms 42:1 NLT
What if our spirit man had that kind of yearning and desire for God’s presence all the time? What if we were lonely for God in the same way that a puppy wants to be with his owners?
God created us with a longing and open spot for Him. He desires a relationship with us where the communication is bi-directional.
“When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees.” Genesis 3:8 NLT
But God is a gentleman and will not push His way into our lives. We must come to him and desire closeness with Him.
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:8 NLT
Be blessed!
