A small dependent person who would not be able to survive unless an adult was able to provide. A child is also humble, innocent, and trainable. Christ said in Matthew,

“…Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew‬ ‭18:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Many times in scripture we find that God refers to us as children, here are a few…

“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” 1 John‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”” Romans‬ ‭8:15‬ ‭NLT

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans‬ ‭8:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I know, we Men have a hard time being dependent on anyone or anything. We know how to get from here to there and we know how fix this or that. We think we have it all under control. But God desires to have us, as little children, put our trust in him. He wants to handle the issues in our lives that arise and lead us where we don’t need to be. The following song by Twila Paris is a reminder of how we as warriors need to live a life of surrender to God.

Warrior is a Child (Twila Paris)

“Lately I’ve been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I’m amazing
Strong beyond my years
But they don’t see inside of me
I’m hiding all the tears

They don’t know that I go running home when I fall down
They don’t know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
‘Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

Unafraid because His armor is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I’m amazing
Never face retreat
But they don’t see the enemies
That lay me at His feet

Oh Father, you are most holy and all powerful. To you I lift my heart of praise and admiration. God make us men who are humble and dependent on you. Lead us into paths of righteousness for your name’s sake. Teach us how to be humble and open to you and your leadership in our lives. I give you all the glory and thanks, in Jesus name, amen.
