Loyal

1 : unswerving in allegiance: such as
a : faithful in allegiance to one’s lawful sovereign or government
b : faithful to a private person to whom faithfulness is due
c : faithful to a cause, ideal, custom, institution, or product

As Christians we should show allegiance to our country even if we do not agree with everything about and we should raise the leaders up in prayer.

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.” Romans‬ ‭13:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Our relationships with our spouses should be a perfect picture of loyalty. Always there giving support, after all the vow said for better or worse and in sickness and health. That means my marriage is my personal responsibility to make every effort to see it through to the grave. Loyal actions to our friends is displayed by our availability and loving correction if needed.

“In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over by observing your pure and reverent lives. … In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter‬ ‭3:1-2, 7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.” Ephesians‬ ‭5:25-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” Proverbs‬ ‭17:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.” Proverbs‬ ‭27:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Finally, we should be loyal to our cause; the cause of and for Christ.

“Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭NLT

“If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.” 1 Peter‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:11-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Lord help us to be loyal to our country, families, friends, and to your call on our lives. In Jesus name, amen!
