The start of something.
I love the spring season with all of the new life being displayed in nature. The return of leaves on the barren trees, green grass spreading across pastures, and the flowers in bloom (even though I have some allergies). Spring is so beautiful!
How about the building of a house? This begins with a location being chosen and then some digging is done to lay down some sort of foundational footings. These footings are dug deeper than the rest of base as they are the outer load baring positions of the whole structure. Even pole barns have these footing locations where the vertical beams are sunk into the earth. Without the beginning placement of the footings and those being in the appropriate location the structure would be weakened.
Sunrise…it is a new day. Each day has hopes for success and excitement. It is a new page in our book of life with nothing written on it as yet. Yes, we have schedules and plans for things that are going to happen and we have the normal processes in our jobs that will fill the page. But what about the small details? How do we handle this or that? How do we live out our life with the persons we are around? Those are the opportunities where the successes and excitement are recorded.
In our walk with Christ we have beginnings all the time. At salvation we have become a new creation…
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Each day we receive new mercies for that day, as we find in Lamentations…
“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentations 3:21-23
We have a promise of new heavenly bodies at the end of our earthly life…
“While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life.” 2 Corinthians 5:4 NLT
“And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.” Romans 8:23 NLT
We are inching closer and closer to the end of all things and the return of Christ. It has been said for many years that a last great move of God’s spirit will occur before Christ’s return.
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.” James 5:7 KJV
A new beginning of His power at work in our world today. I don’t know about you but my spirit is ready and excited to see the latter rain and all that it will entail.
In my minds eye I can see the spring trees with their new leaves beginning to ripple with a slight breeze as a more powerful wind is approaching. Off in the distance I can see the clouds on the horizon displaying God’s majesty as the gust front of His spirit is headed our way. Behind that gust front is the awesome power of God with the latter day outpouring of His Spirit. Wow, a thunderstorm of God’s presence and move. Oh, how I am ready to be in that storm.
