Ambiance is added to dark rooms by the glow of a candle’s flame. Many candles have soothing smells that relax us and make our homes smell nice. At Christmas time I love cinnamon, evergreen, or spice smelling candles; they just seem to set my mind to the season.
As we stroll along in our path of life we must remember that we are a candle to this dark world. Matthew chapter five says, “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:15-16 KJV. But the light can be enhanced by our prayer life, “Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” Psalms 141:2 KJV.
Let us then shine brightly before men with the love of God and life of Christ. We should not grow weary in well doing but work all the harder as we see the day approaching. If we really want to see the Lord change those around us we also need to lift them up in prayer as a sweet incense before His throne.
Merry Christmas to all and may God richly bless you and your’s in this season and in the next year.
