Windshield

Anyone who has ridden a roller coaster or a motor cycle without a windshield can attest of the wind that your face endures at high speed. The wind is not the only thing that is endured though, the smallest bug feels like a pebble if you hit one, man do they sting. Larger insects…ouch.

When I had a bike and was driving home one evening I hit a large insect. I had a helmet on but the impact actually moved my head a little, I can’t imagine how it would have felt without my helmet. I was moving at highway speed as we lived out near Cheney. Our car windshields take a beating when we are on the road. Road debris, bugs, and other items hit those babies but we are kept safe and clean. They are so good at protection that storm spotters are told to face their vehicle into the wind (if caught in a storm) with either the front or rear windshield as those are the strongest on the vehicle.

In our lives we also have a windshield. The Spirit of God is in us and strives to direct us from getting hit by the pests of temptation. It reveals the danger of the temptation in hopes of keeping us from sinning. We also have God’s word and it’s promises that assist us on our path. Our meditation on His word and praying in the Spirit will help us build up our windshields of faith that can quench the fiery darts of our enemy.

“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,” Jude‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Thank you God for your protective grace and love for us. May we strive to stay behind the windshield of protection and heed the leading of the Spirit. May your word come readily to our minds so that we may bolster our Christian family’s windshields as well as our own. Praises be to you the one and only true God. Amen.
