Dust

I remember when I was a child looking at a sunbeam shining through my window and watching the little things moving around in the air. Blowing at them and waving my hand through them to make them change direction and move faster. You know when you think about it, no matter how clean an environment is there will still be some small particles floating around that can be seen in bright light.

As we move about in our lives we inhale many of these little objects. Our bodies are built to filter and handle them in a way that keeps them from harming us. However other items can sometimes join these particles and cause a bigger reaction. Pollen is an example of a small particle that can join the floating objects and that can cause different levels of reactions in different people. Other irritants are certain chemical vapors, smoke, mold, etc..

The point is, there are millions of little particles floating around us all the time. Just like in our spiritual walk, we have millions of darts thrown at us by the enemy of our soul daily. The bright light of the Spirit brings us to knowledge of some of these and when we see them we need to turn away and avoid the issue. This is done through the Spirits prodding direction, letting us know that something isn’t appropriate for us. “And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” Matthew‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬. When we feel the direction of the Spirit, let us follow its lead and abstain from the revealed item. Our pursuit of holiness and Godliness is dependent on our obedience to the Spirit.
